About The Rescue
Located just outside of Coalhurst, Alberta, The Cat's Sass Rescue was founded by Ashley out of necessity.
Ashley's passion for animals has led her to save numerous lives, including those of her pets. Working for The Town of Coalhurst, she witnessed the plight of abandoned and abused stray cats and dogs.

Over the years, the number of animals in need has increased rapidly. In 2022, ashley rescued 6 cats. In 2023, the number increased to 69. By early 2024, the rescue has already welcomed 48 cats, including pregnant mothers, feral cats, and seniors, totalling over 100 cats in less than two years.

While there are still many animals in need, Ashley remains committed to her mission. The demanding task is made worthwhile by the positive impact she has on the lives of these vulnerable creatures.
Steph, driven by her unwavering passion for animal welfare and a commitment to educating people on responsible pet ownership, joined forces with Ashley at the rescue this summer. As a longtime foster volunteer and adopter for the Cat's Sass, Steph was a natural partner. She has been actively involved in fundraising and planning community events to support the organization's mission.
Partnering with Ashley, Steph will focus on the technical and operational aspects of the rescue. Together, they are dedicated to providing care and love to every animal, regardless of cost, capacity, or other challenges. Their belief in the inherent value of each animal motivates them to continue their work until all cats and kittens find their loving furever homes. Every life has value.
With the support of her family, friends and like-minded people, the rescue continues to grow and big things are in the works. Stay tuned for some exciting updates in the coming months and new ways for you to get involved and show your support.

Steph takes a bunch of our feline family to the vet. Each animal in our care gets vet checked, treated and spayed/ neutered.

Meal time at the rescue is always a full house.
While our primary focus is on cats from Coalhurst and its surrounding municipalities, we also consider cases from other areas on a case-by-case basis.

Mission
Our mission at The Cat's Sass Rescue is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned, stray, or feral cats in and around Southern Alberta.
We are committed to providing these animals with the necessary medical care, including spaying or neutering and vaccinations, to ensure their health and well-being.
Vision
Through our dedication to finding forever homes for these cats, we strive to create a community where every animal has a loving and safe environment.
We operate solely on donations and rely on the generosity of our supporters to continue our work.
