Volunteer with us

At the Cat's Sass Rescue, we have various volunteer needs, from cleaning and cuddle crew to laundry volunteers, fosters and fundraising enthusiasts.  We wouldn't be able to keep going without our volunteers, so if you have time, the time and ability to help and a soft spot in your heart for four-legged feline friends, then please get in touch, and we can find a spot for you on our crew.

Cleaning

Cleaning at the Catty Shack involves, scooping and changing out litter boxes, cleaning/brushing rugs and cat trees, changing out bedding and sweeping.

Catty Shack

At the Catty Shack we need daily help with cleaning, feeding and cuddles. Volunteers at the Catty shack need to be able to drive to the shack location and be able to do basic cleaning around the shack so we can make sure our resident cat crew at the shack have the care and love they need while they await their furever homes. We have a flexible schedule, and we are happy to work with you and come up with a regular schedule that works for everyone. We have some volunteers that come twice a week and others that come once every two weeks. We would love to have a regular schedule where volunteers are checking in on the shack at least twice daily.

Feeding

Feeding at the Catty Shack includes washing out bowls daily and filling with food and water. We also love to treat all the crew with wet food everyday provided we have some on hand.

Enrichment

Interaction with the cats is also a top priority at our rescue. We believe cuddles and attention for our cat crew is very important. Socialization and love go a long way to giving all of our cats a chance to find their furever homes.

Fostering

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does fostering a cat involve?

Fostering a cat means providing a safe and loving home without a lifetime commitment. The rescue provides all food, supplies, and covers all vet care for the cat(s) you foster.

Q: Is fostering a cat a long-term commitment?

We ask for a minimum three (3) month commitment as continually switching cats from house to house can cause unnecessary stress for everyone.  If you are unable to continue fostering at any point, you must notify the rescue immediately so they can make alternative arrangements for the cat.

Q: Who arranges and covers the cost of vet appointments for foster cats?

The rescue arranges and covers all vet appointments. Depending on your availability, you may help by taking the cat(s) to the vet, which would be a great help to the rescue.

Q: Do I need to provide food and supplies when fostering?

While the rescue supplies all necessary food and supplies, some fosters choose to purchase these items as a “gift in kind” donation. This generous gesture is greatly appreciated, but it is not expected or required.

Q: What kind of communication is expected between the rescue and foster?

Regular communication is essential. Weekly, and sometimes daily, contact between the rescue and the foster is needed to ensure the well-being of the cat(s).

Q: Can I adopt the cat I'm fostering or arrange for someone else to adopt it?

All adoptions must go through the rescue. Private adoptions between the foster and possible adopters are not allowed.

Laundry

Okay, lets face it we are terrible with keeping up with all the laundry. We don't have a laundry set-up for the rescue or the space to set one up at this time so we need laundry genies! We change out the bedding at the Catty Shack regularly to make sure we are able to maintain a clean safe environment for our cat crew but we need help. So if you have a washer and dryer and the time to help in this area on a weekly or bi-weekly basis we would love to hear from you!
